LLANTWIT MAJOR BEACH
1 mile from the site you can drive there or walk through the meadow by the stream, a round trip of 3 miles takes you along the Heritage Coast with views up the channel, then back through the meadow. The beach is rocky until the tide goes out leaving rock pools, and sand.
PORTHCAWL
Has some of the cleanest beaches in South Wales. Sandy Bay and Treco Bay have the four dolphin classification from the Marine Conservation Society for clean bathing waters and safe beaches. Rest Bay has been awarded the European Blue Flag, plus a Tidy Britain Seaside Award. At Porthcawl itself you can stroll along the promenade or take a ride on the Promenade Princess road train which runs throughout the summer from Coney Beach with its funfairs and amusements to Rest Bay and back.
BARRY ISLAND
Is a traditional seaside resort, with sandy beaches to relax on and the Pleasure Park where the fun never stops.
MERTHYR MAWR
With its thatched cottages and sand dunes - the largest dune system in Europe and where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed.
SOUTHERNDOWN
Only 7 miles from the site this beach is not commercialized a lovely place to relax while the children play, when the tide is out.
