LLANTWIT MAJOR - This town is steeped in history with Iron Age hill forts, a Roman Villa just outside the town, a medieval grange and fine Tudor buildings. The impressive church of Saint Illtud stands on the site where Saint Illtud founded a church, monastery school and mission centre at the end of the 5th century. From here missionaries spread Christianity through Wales. This sacred place is where the Kings of Glywysing are buried. The church still contains a collection of Celtic crosses and carved stones.
COSMESTON MEDIEVAL VILLAGE - Set in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park it is a project unique in Britain. Set on its original site the reconstructed 14th century village consists of medieval buildings, gardens rare breeds and a small museum. Special events throughout the year.
